Friday Fun | Barbie Lips

Hola Munchkins!
I love me a little bit (or a lot-ter bit!) of Barbie. Now, believe you me, I am not dumb by any standards, but something about barbie just appeals to me!  Lately I have been on the look out for a real Barbie, but deeper, type lipstick - and here are my latest results!
Sleek Loved Up
A deep but bright pink, with hints of red - glossy, moisturising finish.  Hugely pigmented, as with all Sleek lippies!
Sleek Mystic
A mauve/purple that leans pink, beautiful either used lightly and patted in, or layered on for a full-on effect!  Matte, but not drying texture
Maybelline Colour Sensation in 902 Fuschia Flash
Very, very bright pink.  Not quite highlighter, but definitely getting there!
All beautifully Barbie-esque!

Radiance, radiance | wherefore art thou radiance?

2/14/2013 06:00:00 am
Hola Munchkins!
Winter sucks the life out of my skin, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem.  If a notoriously oily-skinned girl like myself lacks radiance, then I'll eat my non-existent hat if other skin types aren't having the same problemo.  So how does a gal stay radiant but oil free?  Enter Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation.  I have actually avoided this foundation like the plague, thinking it to be for the normal-to-dry skin masses.  But something just took a hold of me a few days ago and , as if in a trance, I found myself at a Boots counter handing over my pennies (granted, it was 3 for 2 on Rimmel,  and I ended up with a Scandaleyes shadow stick and a pink shimmery thing too!).

I have to say, for reasons aforementioned, I wasn't expecting a huge amount from this foundation - plus all previous radiance-enhancing high street foundations have resulted in a greasy,  slippy mess on my skin.  But this stuff, this stuff earns its place in my fairytale brain, and the right to be given the moniker of magic.   That's right.  Magic.   Really?   I hear you ask?  Yes, magic us real and if you do not believe in it then I have no other choice than to feel sad for you.  But back to this particular magic.  Firstly, it sinks into a second skin on the face.  Secondly it thick, but somehow weightless. Thirdly, coverage can be built from sheer to medium-full.  Fourthly, without powder skin looks healthy, with powder it looks like a flawless type of natural.  Now, coming to "fifthly" - it controls shine and lasts the entire commute-to-commute day: that's a whole 12-13 hours.
The first day I wore this I completely forgot to pack my powder in my bag, so all I could do was blot around2pm.  Cue coming home at 8 to find my face still exists!   Now, I am one who can be accused of loving things far too quickly and doing reviews far too soon, but I'm really quite confident that this will become my new go-to foundation.

Faves Jan | Super Late

2/12/2013 10:43:00 pm
Hola Munchkins!
Today we are looking at my January faves - very late, but here nonetheless, and I am trying out a shorter layout for the post - I can be quite the rambler sometimes!  So let us begin:
Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets
Oil is the bane of my face's life.  Commuting and office heating are encouraging my skin to be a hot mess of haywire oil, so enter these wonderful purple sheets.  Open the pack, dispense a purple sheet (oddly looks like a sanitary towel wrapper) and blot away.  Shine gone, make-up reasonably intact and face ready to be re-powdered.
Vichy Dermablend Foundation Stick
Concealer of choice - heavy duty, and long-lasting when set with powder.  Perfect rescue remedy for winter-ravaged, problematic skin.
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo
In terms of spots, my skin has actually been pretty good since I've been using this little beauty (my issues are scars that come from my obsession with picking!).  Perfect amount of moisture for oily old me, and a pretty decent make up base too.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
Restores my sickly pallor to a more radiant tone, making it look like I've slept the whole night! In depth review to come shortly, but basically love it!
Naturally Radiant Brightening Renewal Mask
Yet another gem to come out of Superdrug's own brand skincare.  Perfect skin pick-me-up, actually prefer it to the REN Glycolactic Mask SHOCK HORROR.
Bobbi Brown Kabuki Brush
Actually almost sold this eek!  Been using it lately for all my loose and pressed powders, and bronzers.  Perfect light-touch brush for a sculpted look!
Jan faves are done!  Short, sweet, and to the point - let's see if I can stick to this in future faves posts!
Lots of love,
A.x
